Things Cats Might Actually Be Grateful For

Thanksgiving is coming up quick! Even in a year as turbulent as 2020, it’s always nice to enjoy this special time with loved ones, and think about the things we are grateful for. Cats definitely make that list! However, if your feline buddy could list the things she appreciates, what do you think would be on it? An Anderson, IN vet makes a few ‘petucated’ guesses below.

Warm Laps

Did you know that cats think of their humans as parents? They also tend to think of us as furniture. Many of our feline friends love curling up in their owners’ laps!

Comfy Beds

Kitties certainly do take their beauty rest seriously. Fluffy can spend up to 20 hours a day snoozing! While most cats don’t sleep quite that much, our drowsy little buddies certainly do enjoy a good doze. Or ten. Therefore, it’s really no surprise that comfy napping spots are pretty high on this list.

Sunbeams

Cats don’t actually run on solar power, but we’re not sure anyone has told them this yet. Many kitties absolutely love sprawling out in sunbeams!

Boxes

We may never quite understand Fluffy’s box obsession. We just know it’s adorable! If you really want to pamper your furry little diva, offer her a cardboard box on occasion.

Clean Litterboxes

Kitties are very clean, and they like their bathrooms kept that way as well. We recommend scooping Fluffy’s purrsonal bathroom daily, and changing the litter every week.

Us (Well, Sort of)

Given the option, most of our feline patients would rather take a nap or defeat a vicious moth than come to visit us. (We don’t take it personally: we know drives and clinics can be a bit much for these little furballs.) That said, Fluffy is always much healthier—and therefore happier—with proper veterinary care.

Playtime

Kitties are always adorable when they are chasing that little red dot, or pouncing on a wand toy. Fluffy definitely appreciates the time you spend playing with her.

Cuddles

Our feline pals have a reputation for being aloof, but that isn’t really fair. Many of them are compete cuddlebugs. Some will immediately start purring the second you touch them!

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at Pendleton Veterinary Clinic. Please reach out to us, your local Anderson, IN vet clinic, if there is anything we can do for you.
