Holiday Gifts for Bunnies

Have you finished your holiday shopping yet? Don’t forget to get something for your furry pal! It’s quite easy to find gifts for Fido and Fluffy, but what about Floppy? An Anderson, IN vet lists some great holiday gifts for bunnies in this article.

Toys

Chew toys are always a great option for rabbits. You can buy some, but there are also lots of great DIY options. You can make little snowflake chains or igloos out of plain paper. The tubes from toilet paper rolls can also be upcycled into a variety of cute toys. You’ll find lots more great ideas and instructions online. Just stick to safe options. Don’t give Floppy anything small or sharp, or anything covered in varnish, paint, stain, or dye.

Dig Box

Rabbits love to dig. Fill a basket, box, or storage tote with goodies for your little buddy. You can add things like treats, chews, safe branches, and other bunny favorites. To make it more fun for Floppy, add something to sort through, like shredded or crumpled-up pieces of paper.

New Cage

Many commercial bunny cages are actually too small. Your furball needs plenty of room to run, jump, and hop. A bigger cage would make a wonderful gift for Floppy.

Hopstacle Course

We all know that rabbits love to hop. Make your adorable pet her own little play area, and give her some things she can safely jump on and off. Plastic storage totes and ottomans work, though you’ll need to make sure Floppy doesn’t try to eat them. To make it safe, bunnyproof an area–or even the whole room–and contain it with a baby gate or puppy pen.

Treats

Treats are a standard gift for many of our patients. Rabbits also love a yummy snack. It is a special occasion, so go ahead and indulge Floppy’s sweet tooth. You can give your furry pal safe fruits, such as berries, bananas, or apple slices. Just don’t go overboard: too much sugar is just as bad for pets as it is for people. Ask your vet for more information.

Bed

Who doesn’t like a comfy bed? Look for a good bed for your little buddy to curl up in at night. This can make for some adorable holiday photos.
